IKEA Restores Your Faith In Humanity By Taking In Homeless Dogs
My God this is adorable.
What you need to know
- Look at these dogs!
- LOOK AT THEM
If you’re having a bad day, this will warm your heart with joy. Unless, you’re a cat. In which case, you’ll hate this story. But congratulations on being able to use a computer and read! That’s pretty cool!
Anyway, to the story now. An IKEA store in Catania, Italy, is receiving a lot of well-deserved attention across social media for allowing stray dogs to sleep and chill in its store during the cold winter months.
A Facebook video shared by Martine Taccia, who was shopping at the branch, has had over one million views. “A good initiative to shelter the strays while it’s raining outside,” she wrote in her post. Later speaking to animal website The Dodo, she added: “My reaction was pure amazement… It’s not a common thing.”
Important side note – the dogs are not actual furniture. Don’t try to use them as a coffee table, they’re not very good at holding stuff.
Despite not being furniture, it seems like the dogs are fitting in and having a great time. For one thing, they must be loving the meatballs, particularly in Italy, where they are presumably made by the local IKEA nonna.
Reportedly the staff at the store are providing food and water to the homeless dogs as they lounge around the store, and some have even been adopted by customers. Though, if you are looking to get a dog from your local IKEA store, keep in mind that they can be extremely difficult to assemble.
Other customers at the store have also shared images of the dogs across social media. Please enjoy these photos before returning to your day.
