Berejiklian Backs MP At Centre Of Bullying Claims
It follows an extraordinary attack by a Federal Liberal MP.
NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian has backed the Liberal MP at the centre of bullying claims, saying Gareth Ward is no bully.
It follows an extraordinary attack by Federal Liberal MP Ann Sudmalis, accusing Mr Ward of "bullying, betrayal and backstabbing".
The outgoing MP used parliamentary privilege to claim Mr Ward had "flexed his vengeance on strong Liberal women, he doesn't just get even, he annihilates anyone who opposes him".
In an interview with Ten Eyewitness News, Gareth Ward admits the pair has had disagreements but rejects the bullying claims.
"I'm sorry she's feeling this way I don't think people should conflate disagreements and internal party ballots with bullying, they're very different things," he said.
Born with Albinism, Mr Ward has been legally blind since birth.
"I grew up as a kid with a disability through public school and a very obvious one and when I was growing up I often used to get bullied I know what it's like to be bullied, I'm no bully."
While the Premier condemned bullying in any workplace, she defended the NSW backbencher saying "all of us who knows and love the member for Kiama knows what he represents".
