Police Warn Against 'Bird Box Challenge' After Car Crash
A woman has been involved in a crash after allegedly driving while doing the 'Bird Box challenge'.
The driver covered her eyes while driving in Layton, Utah, on Monday, before allegedly colliding with another car.
The 17-year-old driver told police she had pulled her beanie over her eyes while driving with a 16-year-old passenger, ABC 4 reported.
Police said the woman crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another car before crashing into a light pole.
Layton Police posted photos of the crash on Twitter, and said the outcome was a "predictable result".
"Bird Box Challenge while driving... predictable result."
"This happened on Monday as a result of the driver covering her eyes while driving on Layton Parkway. Luckily no injuries."
This crash comes after Netflix begged people to be careful while doing the challenge.
"Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE," it tweeted earlier in January.
The challenge has become a sensation after the Netflix film Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock, was released in December.
It involves people covering their eyes while performing tasks, copying the characters in the Netflix movie who shield their eyes to avoid the powers of an unseen adversary.
