If You're Going To Mug Someone, Make Sure It's Not A UFC Fighter

UFC fighter Polyana Viana was waiting for an Uber outside her apartment in Rio de Janerio on Sunday evening when she was approached by a stranger.

Viana told MMA Junkie that a man sat next to her and asked for the time, but when she told him, he didn't move away.

"I saw he wasn’t going to leave," Viana said.

"So I already moved to put my cell phone in my waist. And then he said, ‘Give me the phone. Don’t try to react, because I’m armed.’ Then he put his hand over [a gun], but I realised it was too soft,".

In an incredible moment of lucidity, Viana realised the man would be sitting too close to her to have time to draw a gun and shoot her.

She knew it was time to act.

"So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him in a rear-naked choke," she said.

Viana then sat him down in the same place where he threatened her and a passer-by reportedly assisted her in calling the police.

"Now we’ll wait for the police,” Viana said to the man.

A photo of Viana and her alleged mugger was shared on Twitter by UFC  president Dana White.

"On the left is @Polyana_VianaDF, one of our @UFC fighters and on the right is the guy who tried to rob her," White wrote on Twitter.

He then hashtagged the post "#badf**kingidea".
