Hang Glider's Harness Isn't Attached, Does More Hanging Than Gliding

You know how the police remind us to buckle up in the car? Switzerland may need to create a government body to do the same for hang gliders.

A US man has gone for what was very nearly the last ride of his life while holidaying in the Swiss countryside, after his hang gliding instructor failed to secure his harness.

“My first time gang gliding turned into a near death experience as my safety harness was never hooked to the glider," Florida resident Chris Gursky said on a video posted to YouTube.

"For 2 Min. 14 seconds I had to hang on for my life! The landing was a rough one, but I lived to tell the story.”

And hang on for dear life he did! Literally, to the leg of his instructor until the pair could find a safe place to land.

Once he was finally at a safe distance from the ground, Gursky let go, suffering a torn bicep tendon and a fractured wrist, which he quite accurately said "beats the alternative".

While the hills may be alive with the sound of screaming, the Floridian said he will in fact go hang gliding again because he "did not get to enjoy my first flight".

Power to you Gursky, power to you.
