Ten Thousand Evacuated In Ukraine After Explosion Rips Through Military Depot
A fire and explosions have ripped through a defense ministry ammunition depot in Ukraine leading to the evacuation of up to 10,000 people.
Officials said it was not immediately clear whether the explosions, which occurred approximately 176 kilometres east of the capital Kiev, were an accident or deliberate.
As yet there are no reports of any injuries or casualties, however officials have closed the airspace within a 30 kilometre radius of the incident.
Rail and road transport has also been suspended.
Hundreds of people, including the head of the armed forced in Ukraine have been deployed to the area.
It's not the first such incident in the country in recent years. In September 2017 an explosion at a military arms depot in Western Ukraine forced the evacuation of more than 20,000 in the area. Earlier last year in March thousand were again evacuated after a depot exploded in the country's east.
