Paris Balcony Rescue: Father Of Dangling Child Sentenced

The father of the four-year-old child who was dramatically rescued after dangling from a Paris balcony has been given a three month suspended sentence. 

The man was convicted of neglecting his parental responsibilities, with the court ordering him to focus on being a better parent in the future.

The court heard he left the toddler alone and went shopping, further delaying his return home in order to play Pokemon Go. The child's mother was on the French island of Reunion at the time, where the family is from.

The case was made famous when Mamoudou Gassama scaled four floors of the building to rescue the boy. Since the incredible rescue Gassama has been given French citizenship and been personally thanked by French President Emmanuel Macron.
