Car Theft Solved With A Happy Ending, And A Life Lesson

Take your keys with you.

A Canadian man has had his car returned to him after it was stolen two weeks ago -- but the story of where it ended up is almost too good to be true.

We go back to late June, when a woman hired a black Nissan Sentra from a car rental company in the city of Cornwall.

She then took the car to a local Walmart, around the same time the man took his black Infiniti to the same car park.

After the woman had finished her shopping, she returned to 'her' car, and used the car for the next two weeks.

The man however, found that his car was missing after he had finished his shopping, and reported it stolen to the Cornwall Community Police Service.

At the end of the two weeks, the woman returned the car back to the rental company, but was met with confused faces.

As she complained about the unclean state of the car -- and the set of golf clubs in the boot -- she handed over the Infiniti keys, only to be told that was not the car she had hired.

The Manager asked the woman to retrace her steps, and when she took him to the Walmart carpark, lo-and-behold the Nissan Sentra was still sitting there.

The poor confused and embarrassed woman reported the incident to police, the Inifiniti was found to be the one reported missing back in June.

How the mix-up happened is simple, both drivers left their keys in their vehicles.

Let this be a lesson to us all.
