Thomas Markle will not be in Windsor on Saturday to watch his daughter, Meghan Markle, marry Prince Harry.
Forty-eight hours before the wedding, Kensington Palace has released a statement from Ms Markle announcing that he would not be attending the wedding, with ill health being blamed.
"Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health," the statement read.
Ms Markle went on to thank the pubic for their support, during what has been a difficult time for her family.
“I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
Thomas Markle reportedly underwent heart surgery after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week.
