Fortnite Rescue Mission Goes Horribly Wrong In The Best Way Possible

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

At just under two-and-a-half minutes long, this viral Fortnite clip is one of the greatest stories of good intentions gone awry.

If you haven't heard, Fortnite is basically one of the biggest games at the moment, mostly played as a battle royale scenario where up to 100 players can come together on a colourful map and attempt to scavenge for weapons and items in an attempt to be the last person standing. You can build, you can set traps, you can ride a shopping trolley. It's just like real life!

The game has become so popular it even set off some of those "violent video games will turn your children into monsters" pieces which are always truly great.

Regardless of what you think about Fortnite, or video games in general, the following clip is truly exquisite. Check out what happened when Aussie streamer Muselk attempted to mount a rescue mission.

After taking out a player, Muselk quickly realised he potentially was trying to help another player who had fallen off the side of the map, stranded without any way to build themselves back up.

Having a change of heart, Muselk decided to build a way for the player to climb back up, but soon found out the bigger issue at hand: the player was outside the build limit, meaning there was no way to build stairs all the way to the player's location. They'd have to use a nearby golf cart for leverage. That's... that's when everything went to s**t.

A redditor claiming to be the player Muselk wanted to help, Chappadoodle, wrote what the experience was like from their perspective after the clip was posted on the site.

"Moment later a golf cart is rapidly plummeting towards me, when it dawns upon me, it's possible this golf cart roles off the ledge into the ocean, killing my Savior and dooming any chance of rescue in the process."

"Without hesitation I put myself in between the golf cart and the ocean acting as a buffer I prevent any possibility of the golf cart sliding off the map. Unfortunately I forgot about the knock back I was receive on impact..."

Honestly, one of the greatest plot twists of all time.
