Australia Beat India By Four Runs In T20 Thriller After Stunning Maxwell Catch
Australia has beaten India by four runs in the first of three Twenty20 Internationals at the Gabba on Wednesday night.
This was a classic match. Australia started slowly but picked up the pace as Chris Lynn (37) and Glenn Maxwell (46) went through the gears.
The hosts looked set to explode in the final few overs before rain intervened. The Aussies finished on 4/158 -- and India's chase target was set at 174.
India were going to get it... and then they weren't. And then they were again. But then they didn't, thanks largely to a nerveless final two overs from Andrew Tye and then Marcus Stoinis -- and a brilliant catch from Glenn Maxwell in the final over.
"I was pretty excited after dropping one earlier, so I was pretty happy to make amends," Maxwell said with incredible modesty, because he didn't actually "drop" a catch earlier. Rather, he was unable to stop a six.
Leg spinner Adam Zampa also starred for the Aussies, taking 2 for 22 and being named man-of-the-match.
