Footballer Fined After Filthy Response To Eating $500 Gold-Coated Steak

Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery has copped a "heavy" fine for his online tirade.

A footballer has been fined an unknown amount after going on a foul-mouthed tirade against the "haters" upset with his $500 gold-coated steak.

Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery shared a video of himself enjoying the luxury steak at a Dubai restaurant owned by Turkish celebrity chef Nusret Gokce, a.k.a. Salt Bae.

"No better way to start the year than with a dash of salt and a visit to my Turkish brother," he posted, showing Gokce slicing the reportedly 1,250 AED ($AU 478) steak with his trademark flare.

The steak reportedly costs almost $AU 500. Photo: Franck Ribery / Twitter.

However, there was some backlash to the expensive meal, with some criticising the ostentatious steak.

Ribery hit back at the "jealous" people and "haters" in an expletive-filled rant on Twitter.

"Let's start with the envious, the angry, surely born because of a broken condom," he said.

"Fuck your mothers, your grandmothers and your whole family tree."

Ribery has now been fined an unknown but "heavy" penalty for his words, Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed to reporters on Sunday.

"He used words that we ... cannot accept and that Franck does not have the right to use, as a role model and player," Salihamidzic said.

"I had a long talk with Franck and I let him know that we would impose a heavy fine on him and he accepted it," Salihamidzic said.

By Monday morning, Ribery tweeted that it was back to "business".

"Don't worry, I'm fine," he tweeted.

"And now, back to serious business, we have a lot of work to do."
