Too Raunchy? Champion Russian Figure Skater Strips To Britney Spears' Toxic
Everyone calm down. This figure skating routine was not toxic, even if the music was.
The Britney Spears hit Toxic was the backing music as 21-year-old Russian figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva won an event called Skate Canada overnight with an incredibly provocative free dance.
It started with a sparkly little airline stewardess outfit.
Then she got a little saucy with the tray.
And then the big reveal. Bye bye airline sparkles, hello what lies beneath.
Yup. A bra.
So did the super sexy skate routine go too far?
Expert Australian figure skating commentator Belinda Noonan sat up all night watching this event because that's how she rolls -- or slides, as the case may be -- and she thought it was great.
"I didn't find it too raunchy," Noonan told ten daily.
"Figure skating is a performance sport, and if a performance like this gets figure skating in the headlines, then it's great.
"It means that people are watching and interested and that's always a good thing for any sport."
Noonan kindly explained that Tuktamysheva was in front in the two-pronged competition when she took to the ice. She had already won the shorter, more technical program, scoring big when she landed a triple axel.
You can watch that program here. Pretty amazing stuff.
Tuktamysheva duly wrapped up the overall win with her free dance.
"The thing about her style is it's in some ways casual and avant garde," Noonan explained.
"She's not the perfect American skating princess ideal. She's a modern woman who's taking her performance in a modern way where she likes it. And she delivers."
Noonan was at pains to point out that while a bold young woman like Elizaveta Tuktamysheva can get away with this stunning routine, it would be a different story for up-and-coming skaters in their mid teens to pull moves like this.
Meanwhile, the world enthused.
The skater herself thought she went OK too.
And made an excellent joke about the pretend fake airline she apparently works for,
