More than a fortnight after the Wentworth by-election, Dr Kerryn Phelps is expected be announced as the winner on Monday.

The Australian Electoral Commission said on Saturday it will officially declare the winner at 9.30am on Monday, November 5.

"The AEC will officially declare the poll for the recent Wentworth by-election on Monday, 5 November at 9:30am," it tweeted.

"All candidates, the media and members of the public are welcome to attend the event."

Independent  candidate Phelps is expected to finish 1851 votes ahead of Liberal candidate Dave Sharma.

This outcome would see a 19 percent swing against the Liberals, who have held the seat since 1944.

The seat was prematurely called on the night of the by-election on October 21 by ABC election analyst Antony Green , with Phelps with more than a 20 percent swing.

However the counting of postal votes saw Sharma narrow the lead and thousands of votes were recounted.
