A Sydney couple has surprised their closest friends and family, getting married at what was supposed to be a 30th birthday, as wedding fever grips the world.

Melanie and Tom D'Agostino tied the knot just an hour before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a converted Redfern warehouse, miles from the lavish set up at Windsor Castle.

Despite this, Melanie says she’s married her Prince Charming.

Surprise Wedding To Coincide With The Royal Wedding

“This is our Royal day,” Tom D'Agostino said.

Their guests, who were concerned about missing the Royal wedding coverage said they were treated to the greatest surprise.

“I was a bit disappointed, but I tell you what, this is wedding fever -- the most exciting wedding I’ve been to in a long time,” Trish Hansen.

“It’s like a Royal, Royal wedding,” another guest said.

The pair met seven years ago in London, not unlike the future Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Devout royalists to celebrate the union in style

Miles from Windsor Castle but in a place almost as grand, Sydney-siders watched as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot.

The Australian-British Chamber of Commerce hosted a gala dinner at The Four Seasons, allowing devout royalists to celebrate the union in style, while watching every minute live on a big screen.

From the other side of the world, the well wishers both cheered and cried, sharing every moment with the happy couple as if they’d known them for a lifetime.

In particular, the room erupted as Prince Charles took his future daughter-in-law Dow the aisle, knowing the tumultuous lead up to the wedding the bride has had.

And while the newest addition to the Royal family stole the show, her additions to the wedding were the most talked about.

“The preachers have made the show so far, that’s for sure,” Mike Enright.

“She looks amazing, he’s a very lucky guy.”
