Paris Protests In Pictures: Arc De Triomphe Vandalised, Cars Torched
The protesters call themselves the 'Yellow Vests' and are protesting an increase in gasoline tax. The group wear fluro-yellow safety vests because they believe everyone is the same when it comes to the declining living standards they are opposing.

Demonstrations were held across France by the Yellow Vests on Saturday, where many were peaceful but others were violent.
Protests in the centre of Paris in particular descended into chaos when cars and motorcycles were set alight, teargas was released to stop police containing the protest, and the Arc de Triomphe was vandalised.
The symbolism of the protest was notable in a nation where organised demonstration is commonplace.
The groups of people gathering regardless of political persuasion to show their frustration and anger at the Macron government appeared to be reminiscent of the French Revolution --a modern day workers and peasants revolt against the President.
