Police Share Graphic Details And Text Messages In Planned Rape Of 3-Year-Old Girl

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT.

Detectives from Volusia County (VCSO) in Florida have arrested and charged a man on conspiracy to commit sexual battery on a small child.

Text messages between Lafe Best, 37, and his friend and sexual partner Benjamin Worster, 39, revealed the extent of the alleged plans.

Worster was arrested by police in early January and charged with lewd or lascivious molestation, lewd or lascivious conduct and 21 counts of possession of child pornography.

The pair allegedly plotted to groom and then rape a three-year-old girl. The little girl and her mother had recently moved into Worster’s apartment on Ormond Beach and soon after the girl told her mother Worster had allegedly touched her.

Not long after, on December 17, 2018, Worster was taken to hospital after an apparent drug overdose. While Worster was away, the girl’s mother accessed his phone and found the sickening plans he and Best had allegedly made to rape her daughter.

According to the messages between the pair, they allegedly aimed to carry out their plans whether the child was conscious or not.

The Sheriff's Office found itself having to defend publishing the graphic material on their Facebook.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on their Facebook that it has posted the text messages on Facebook to “demonstrate how predators work to groom young children for sexual abuse”.

The messages start with Worster describing the living situation with the three-year-old girl and her mother to Best.

Worster: “Single mom & Has a 3 year old daughter & Shes not a very good mom and she ignored her daughter constantly & 2nd day of meeting her daughter she ran up to give me a hug and buried her head right in my crotch & So im gonna get to work on that.”

Worster: “And at 3 im working with memories that wont stick.”

Worster: “Think I migbt casually accidently let her see it a few times see how she reacts maybe bring her by to watch a movie at your place when your roomates aren't home get her used to you too."

Worster: “Im looking up things under an anonymous browser on things that will safely make kids pass out for a couple hours:”

Best: “Cant wait lol.”

Worster: “Me either & Gotta take this opportunity while I can at my age who knows when something like this will land in my lap again."

Best: “I know right. I've got all kinds of Visions dancing in my head right now lol.”

More graphic messages were also published but 10 daily has chosen not to publish them.

Volusia County received messages of support and thanks for publicising such a difficult issue.

Many users condemned the actions of the two accused, and while admitting the details of the alleged crime were hard to read, wanted awareness raised for the dangers facing children.

“My tummy is so sick from reading this! Thank you for the cold hard truth though and I pray that God makes these two men pay,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Thank you for your transparency and all you do VCSO!,” another said.

“VCSO, horrifying to read, but posting to educate parents was a good call,” a third user posted.

Following Best’s arrest, detectives searched his home and found what appeared to be child pornography on his mobile phone. Best was living with two other people who had a 20-month-old child. It is not believed the child was subject to abuse.
