Road Rage Rampage: Man's Skull Fractured After Alleged Hammer Attack

A 65-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after he was allegedly attacked during a road rage incident.

Emergency services were called to Ettalong Street in Auburn, west of Sydney at 3.40 pm to find the man lying on the road next to his car with a fractured skull.

Police were told two men allegedly became involved in an argument following a road rage incident. The argument escalated and the 65-year-old man was allegedly hit with a hammer.

The man was treated for his injuries at the scene and was transported to hospital.  He has since been discharged.

Witnesses assisted police with additional information about the incident.

Shortly afterwards, a 25-year-old man in a Volkswagen nearby was arrested. Police also seized a hammer that was found inside his vehicle for forensic examination.

The 25-year-old man was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent.

He was refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court on Friday.
