Man Accused Of Throwing Cheerleader Off Balcony

A man is expected to face court on Australia Day accused of throwing a Gold Coast cheerleader off an 11th-floor balcony six years ago.

Breeana Robinson, 21, died when she plunged from the balcony of her boyfriend's luxury Southport apartment in January 2013.

A 45-year-old Nerang man has been charged with one count each of murder, damaging evidence with intent and attempted fraud.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Breeana's aunt Janine Mackney will be in court.

"I want to be there. I want him to see me and know I will be his worst nightmare," Ms Mackney said.

"It has been a long and painful six-year wait to get to this stage and it is not over yet, not by a long shot."

Ms Mackney has doggedly fought to clear Breeana's name after her death initially was ruled a suicide.

"I knew from the first moment. She would never kill herself. She would never have left us."

Police reopened the probe into Ms Robinson's death in late 2017.

She died on January 29, 2013, when she fell from an apartment belonging to her boyfriend Dan Shearin, who has changed his name to Jayden Moorea.
