Sydney's Beloved Sign Man's Arrest Sparks Outrage On Social Media

Danny Lim, a beloved fixture on Sydney's streets, was arrested this morning along with his dog, sparking outrage on social media.

Lim, 74, regularly holds humorous signs around Sydney bringing laughs and smiles to commuters on their way to work.

His antics were brought to a dramatic end  this morning however, when he was arrested after allegedly refusing a move on order in Barangaroo.

"The man repeatedly refused to comply with the move-on direction and became aggressive towards police," police told 10 daily.

In the video of his arrest, which was posted to Facebook, Lim can be heard screaming for help as he is restrained by officers.

The witness who posted the video, Niki Anstiss, said Lim was "brutally" arrested by police.

"Today I saw 3 police officers brutally rip his sign from his back and arrest him while he was screaming for them to not take his sign," she said on Facebook.

Anstiss also claimed dozens on onlookers defended Lim, as he was taken away by police.

"At least 40 people followed him telling them how appalled they were at what they had just witnessed," she said.

Lim's arrest has prompted scores of Sydneysiders to stand up for the sign bearing personality on social media.

Police have since confirmed to 10 daily Lim has been released with no further action to be taken.
