Man Charged With 54 Domestic Violence And Sexual Assault Offences
A man has been charged over alleged historical sexual assault, kidnapping and domestic violence-related offences, totaling more than 50 charges.
NSW Police arrested Aron Goodrem on Monday following investigations launched by the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad in June.
Detectives established Strike Force Cilento following reports four women had been sexually assaulted and held against their will over a period of time by a man known to them, police said.
The 28-year-old was charged at Gosford Police Station with 54 domestic violence-related offences, including 19 counts of common assault, 10 counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and eight counts of rape.
"Police will allege in court that the man was a high-risk domestic violence offender and allegedly sexually assaulted the four women on numerous occasions in Sydney’s west between 2009 and 2017," NSW Police said in a statement.
Among the other charges are three counts of kidnapping, six counts of choking a person with recklessness and two counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Goodrem did not appear at Central Local Court on Tuesday where his solicitor did not apply for bail. It was formally refused and the matter will return to court on January 22.
