CCTV Snaps Alleged Peeping Tom Spying On 13-Year-Old Girl

Police are looking for an alleged peeping tom who was sprung looking through a window at a teenager in Sydney.

The 13-year-old girl was at her Collaroy Plateau home, north of Sydney, on Friday when she claims she spotted a man looking through a window at her at about 10.45pm.

She alerted her parents, who searched for the man in the property's yard, but they were unable to find him.

The parents called police who also searched the area. They also could not find the alleged peeping tom, but CCTV cameras had captured images of a man walking around the property.

"Police were informed a similar incident had occurred on the evening of Thursday 4 October 2018, when a man peeped through a bedroom window, but this was not reported to police," NSW Police said in a statement.

Police have now released an image of a man they believe can help with their search.

He is described as being either Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or Pacific Islander in appearance and between 25 and 35 years of age. Police said he is of medium/large build and has short, dark hair.

He was wearing a light-coloured T-shirt, long pants, sneakers, and a black watch.

“Families have the right to feel safe in their own homes but incidents such as these can be extremely distressing, especially when children are involved,” Northern Beaches Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Michael Boutouridis said.

“We’ve spoken to the family involved, we’ve canvassed the neighbourhood and have collated information, but we need help from the community to identify this person."

The police investigation continues.
