Mother-Daughter Killer Daniel Holdom Jailed For Life

A man who murdered a young mother and her toddler daughter in NSW and dumped their remains 1200 kilometres apart will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Daniel James Holdom, 44, pleaded guilty in July to the December 2008 murder of his girlfriend of two months, Karlie Pearce-Stevenson, 20, and Khandalyce Pearce, aged two-and-a-half, about four days later.

In the NSW Supreme Court on Friday, Justice Robert Allan Hulme imposed life sentences on Holdom for both murders.

Pearce-Stevenson's unidentified skeleton was for years known as "the Angel of Belanglo" due to a t-shirt found with the remains with the word "angelic" on it.

She had bone fractures indicative of being forcefully stomped on or kneed in the chest, the agreed facts state.

Just seconds after the packed court rose to greet Justice Hulme lawyers for Holdom attempted to withdraw his guilty plea to the murder of toddler Khandalyce Pearce.

But 30 minutes later it was rejected and the judge began sentencing him.

Holdom plead guilty four months ago to murdering Pearce-Stevenson, 20, and her two-year-old daughter Khandalyce back in 2008.

Their bodies were dumped more than a thousand kilometres apart -- Pearce-Stevenson in the Belangalo State Forest and her daughter on the side of a South Australian highway.

She was stuffed in a suitcase.

Until recently details of the horrific final moments of the mother and daughter couldn’t be revealed, but two months ago a court lifted a suppression order.

Holdom is a murderous sex offender whose crimes are so extreme a court was asked to give him two life sentences.

The 44-year-old had a rape hit list in a notebook found by police -- the names of dozens of children were on it, including Khandalyce’s.

Peace-Stevenson was stomped on and sexually assaulted in ways too graphic to be detailed.

Investigators say Holdom wanted Karlie out of the way so he could rape her little girl and steal her money.

After he was finished with the toddler he stuffed her in the suitcase and threw her away.

If they were alive today Karlie would be 30 and Khandalyce 12.
