Man Charged After Four-Week-Old Baby Found With Serious Injuries

A man will face court today after a newborn baby was found with serious injuries

When a four week old baby girl was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in western Sydney suffering critical injuries, police began investigating.

The baby was having seizures and had a serious brain injury along with damage to her neck and ribs when she arrived at the emergency department last Thursday.

She was then taken to Westmead Children's Hospital - for specialist care -where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

Today police charged her father with inflicting the serious injuries. Detectives arrested a 25-year-old man at Parramatta Police Station yesterday, where he was charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm.

Police will allege in court the child had been assaulted by the man at a home in Sydney’s south-west. He was refused bail ahead of his appearance.
