Woman Stabbed Repeatedly While Taking Out Her Bins
An everyday household chore has left a woman in Townsville fighting for her life.
Sky Woodlands was repeatedly stabbed by a stranger as she put out her wheelie bin on Wednesday night.
The 35-year-old was stabbed five times with a kitchen knife in the arms, stomach and chest before her attacker fled.
“Random and unprovoked,” Detective Sergeant Brendan Stevenson said.
“They are not known to each other. It just seems to me it was bad timing. As she was putting out her bin, she has been randomly attacked.”
Skye was rushed to Townsville Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery and was placed in an induced coma, in a critical condition.
“It’s shocking, it’s frightening, and I’m very concerned about the safety of the people in Townsville,” Queensland Opposition leader Deb Frecklington said.
Skye’s alleged attacker, 40-year-old Roy Nallajar, was followed by witnesses to a nearby park and held until police arrived.
He’s been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and was remanded in custody.
