Smile Ewe! Sheep Mugshots As Police Seize Hot Herd And Fast Car

There's no pulling the wool over the eyes of these country cops.

Officers flocked to a property in the NSW Riverina on Wednesday, to recover some rather unusual stolen property.

A herd of 100 sheep to be exact, as well as a rather-out-of-place souped up Mercedes Benz.

Sgt Damian Nott of the Rural Crime Prevention Team said officers raided the 30 acre property on Mees Lane, Wantiool, near Junee, after a tip-off about stolen goods.

"In particular, we've just recovered a luxury motor vehicle to the value of $100,000 which is a confirmed stolen vehicle, so we've seized that," he said.

"There's going to be some further forensic testing carried out on that vehicle."

"We're also interested in a number of sheep, around 100 head of sheep, that we're going though and processing as an exhibit, and the next step will be to identify who the true owners of these animals are."

"We believe this mob of sheep are in fact stolen."

The animals are now being cared for on a nearby property, while investigations continue.
