Former Uber Driver Accused Of Indecent Assault Fronts Court

A former Uber driver will front Picton Local Court today accused of indecently assaulting his female passenger.

The 52-year-old Ambarvale man was arrested two weeks ago and slapped with two sex charges.

Police allege he assaulted his 24-year-old customer during a pre-dawn drop-off at her home in Camden, and when she tried to escape he grabbed her arm to stop her.

She managed to flee and alerted police.

Uber says this is “deeply upsetting” and has removed his app privileges.

This is the second driver charged in as many months with a 37-year-old man facing court next month for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Bondi.

Last year, Sydney Uber driver Muhammad Naveed was jailed for more than six years for raping a woman he’d picked up from a Kings Club night club.
