Shopping Spree After Credit Card Accidentally Left In ATM

Police have released CCTV footage of the man they believe can assist with inquiries.

It's every forgetful person's worst nightmare: a credit card accidentally left in an ATM was found and used in a shopping spree.

A woman in Victoria accidentally left her credit card in an ATM at the Brandon Park Shopping Centre two weeks ago, after depositing money into the machine.

Police believe that a man in his late 20s then found the credit card and withdrew an amount of money. The card was then used to go on a shopping spree across Melbourne, making purchases at a service station in Wheelers Hill, a shopping centre in Malvern East, and another shopping centre in Richmond.

CCTV of the man, released by Victoria Police.

Police would not release exact figures of the amount spent, but told ten daily that a "small amount" was taken from the ATM.

They have now released CCTV footage of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.

He is of a Caucasian appearance, believed to be aged in his late 20s, and about 185cm tall with a solid build and a sleeve tattoo on his left arm.

He was wearing black jeans, a cap and glasses.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
