Serial Stalker Charged After 'Sending Explicit Letters'

The 68-year-old man also allegedly made inappropriate phone calls to female staff.

An alleged serial stalker has been charged after sending sexually explicit letters to Victorian businesses and making calls to female staff.

Detectives arrested the 68-year-old Bellbrae man on Tuesday after launching an investigation in January, and believe his offending dates back four years.

Police said a number of handwritten letters were sent to businesses in Coburg, Torquay, Anglesea and Essendon, with inappropriate phone calls directed at their female staff.

"Investigators probed previously unsolved incidents of a similar nature and revealed that the man's offending dated back to January 2014," a statement said.

The 68-year-old was charged with eight counts of stalking and has been bailed to appear in court in November.
