Police Hunt After 'Savage Attack'

The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police are hunting for a suspect after a man was found seriously injured in a Sydney apartment overnight.

The man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was found by emergency workers late on Tuesday night with injuries to his head, neck and leg.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition and is expected to undergo surgery.

A police spokesperson confirmed to ten daily that he had suffered a "variety of injuries", but that investigations will be hampered until the man wakes from surgery and is able to talk to investigators.

It's been described as a "savage attack", according to Sky News, with the man bleeding heavily from serious wounds inflicted by "a knife or other sharp object".

Police are now appealing to the public for any information that may help them find the assailant.

A crime scene has been established at the man's south-west Sydney apartment in Railway Parade, near Pevensey Street, at Canley Vale.

"Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward," said police.
