Ray Hadley Cries Over His Cop Son's Drug Arrest

The shock jock said his son has mental health issues he wasn't aware of.

The police officer son of shock jock  Ray Hadley has been charged with cocaine possession.

Daniel Hadley, 28, was arrested at a pub in north-west Sydney on Friday night and allegedly found to be in possession of 0.79 grams of cocaine.

Daniel Hadley has been a police officer for seven years.

The bust was not by chance, Hadley, who was off-duty at the time, had been under investigation by New South Wales Police.

Hadley said his son had been battling mental health issues and had been injured at work some time ago, the tearful broadcaster revealed to media on Saturday.

Ray Hadley struggled to contain his emotion during a press conference on Saturday.

"My son had been seeing his GP about these issues without my knowledge," the 2GB broadcaster said.

"The serious nature of his illness is such that he has been admitted to a clinic immediately."

Ray Hadley appealed to the public to understand why his son had turned to drugs.

"I would appeal to everyone to consider things he's dealt with over the last seven years as a police officer have had a dramatic impact on him," he said.

Daniel Hadley was charged with possession of a prohibited drug and was granted conditional bail.

He will front Parramatta Local Court on 12 September.
