A truck has burst into flames on the off-ramp of a major Sydney highway, grinding traffic to a halt.

Emergency crews responded to the scene at the M5 off-ramp to King Georges Road at 2pm on Saturday, where they found the cabin of a freight liner engulfed in flames.

A 30-year-old man escaped with no serious injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics, a NSW Fire and Rescue spokesperson told 10 daily. He was not transported to hospital.

A fire crew managed to extinguish the blaze just before 3pm, and are still unaware what caused the fire.
