Search And Rescue Finds Stranded Pig Hunters

A rescue helicopter has picked up a group of stranded men after their ute was washed off the road in the Whitsundays earlier on Thursday morning.

The vehicle was swept from Tondara Road in Bogie, to the west of the town of Bowen at around 8am.

A helicopter was tasked from Townsville on Thursday morning as part of the search and rescue effort but was forced to turn back due to the weather conditions.

Another helicopter was then dispatched from Mackay to continue with the search and rescue mission.

The men were found after a local farmer had reported their location to police.

The men were retrieved in a helicopter before being flown to Prosperine airport.

All five were uninjured during the incident.
