Young British Couple Die In Perth Just Hours Apart

Jason Francis and Alice Robinson had only been living in Australia for a few months when a double tragedy struck. Their local football club is now crowdfunding to get their bodies home to loved ones.

The British couple, who had been dating for eight years, moved to Perth earlier this year. By Christmas, both were dead.

Francis, a 29-year-old trainee firefighter was out drinking with friends on Saturday 22 December. His friends from Cottesloe Rugby Club told police they put him in a ride share car and sent him home later that night.

Western Australia Police said a white VW Jetta, driven by an 18-year-old man, hit him in a Scarborough street.

Robinson, 29, who worked for a digital marketing company, was just metres away at the couple's home, when her partner was hit. He was taken to hospital, but was unable to be revived.

After receiving the news, she disappeared.

Later that day, she was found dead in her car which was parked on the side of the road in Mount Hawthorn. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Her mother Dawn Robinson, shared the sad news on Facebook.

"I’m devastated to let everyone know that my lovely daughter was so distraught she could not bear to stay without her beloved Jase."

Cottesloe Rugby Club Sam Diamond posted on Facebook describing the couple as "two beautiful souls" who had been lost "far too early".

"Jase and Alice had only been at the club for a short time but had already ingrained themselves into the third grade and fourth grade families," he wrote.

"They could both be found at the multitude of off-season barbecues where Jase would always do his best impression of a competitive eater whilst Alice filled our hearts with her infectious laugh."

Francis' former club in the UK, Newport Salop Rugby Union Football Club, also paid tribute to him on social media.

"Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Jason, or Franna as his mates called him, would all agree he was one of the most genuine and down to earth gentleman that you could ever wish to meet" the club wrote.
