Three Couples Lucky In Love After Hot Air Balloon Crash
Three sky-high marriage proposals took place just minutes before their hot air balloon crashed into a tree in Melbourne.
The basket and balloon came crashing down in Eltham North about 7.30am Friday as it got caught in a tree and needed to be cut free by firefighters using chainsaws.
But for love nester, Emma Govan, not even a bad landing could erase her joy. "I still have a smile on my face; it's been a lovely day," she told 3AW radio after saying "yes" to her partner who kneeled to propose.
"There was all this love in the air ... I think that's why we are all okay and there are no injuries."
Peter Giannopoulos, who proposed on the flight, said he was more nervous proposing than about the landing.
"I just wanted to make sure we were above the clouds. Just sort of tapped her on the shoulder like a nervous child and sort of put the (ring) in her face and mumbled will you marry me? And it worked out well," he said.
"It was a pretty professional landing. It was a job well done by an experienced pilot".
While the cause of the accident is not yet known, no one was injured.
