Barber's Brush With Death As Car Crashes Through Window

A barber has been forced to jump for his life as a car came ploughing through his shop window.

John Ishaia was cutting a client's hair in Constitution Hill just after 10am when he saw the car out of the corner of his eye.

He sprang for his life towards the back of the shop as it smashed through the front window and came to an abrupt halt inches away from him.

“I’m telling you, I am lucky to be alive,” he told 10 News First.

“Thank God, thanks 100 times. I was just thinking about my kids.”

The driver, 79 year-old Jim Manoladis, had popped to the shop for his regular haircut when he accidentally confused reverse with drive.

“I wanted to reverse back a little bit, but instead of reverse I left it in drive and I put the accelerator and bang,” Jim said.

“I thank god nobody was hurt.”

They were treated by paramedics and remarkably both escaped with barely a scratch.

The shop, on the other hand, was a complete mess.
