6kg Bundle Of Joy: Mum Gives Birth To Record-Breaking Baby Boy

A mum has welcomed the biggest baby ever seen at a Sydney hospital, weighing in at close to double the average newborn birthweight in Australia.

Parker James Bell weighed in at 5.75 kilograms (12lb 6oz) when he was born on Thursday.

The real star of the show, 28-year-old mother Nikki Bell, brought the little/not-so-little guy into the world at Blacktown Hospital using no pain relief.

Parker quickly went viral after his photo was shared on the Blacktown Midwifery Group's Facebook page.

“New record,” the post read.

“We are happy to report the not so little Parker and Mum Nikki are doing well. Welcome to the world Parker, you’ll be the talk of Blacktown Maternity for a long time to come.”

Multiple people in the comments compared the new bub's size to that of a six-month-old.

Planning to make the best of a big situation, Parker's mum said his size might have its advantages in year to come.

“Hopefully he will be a bit of a football player, maybe a front rower," Bell told the Daily Telegraph.

"That’ll keep his dad happy.”
