Exclusive: Dad Charged Over Family Massacre Sent 'Polite' Emails On Day Of Killings

"And these are polite, well put together, professional emails to clients."

A father charged with the murder of his three young daughters, their mother and grandmother sent unassuming work emails to clients on the day of his family's death, his employer said.

Police allege Anthony Harvey used a blunt instrument and knives to kill his daughters -- three-year-old Charlotte and two-year-old twins Alice and Beatrix-- as well as his wife Mara, in their Bedford home on Monday September 3.

Harvey is accused of then killing 73-year-old Beverley Quinn, his wife's mother, in the same house the next day.

Jim Penman, the managing director of Jim's Mowing franchise-- for which the 24-year-old father has worked for the past three years-- said the company had not only sustained regular contact with Harvey, but that he had corresponded with clients on the day of the murders.

"We've got emails from him that were sent after 6 o'clock on the Monday evening of the third, " Penman told Ten Eyewitness News.

"And these are polite, well put together, professional emails to clients, two of them. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong at that stage."

One of the emails even apologised "for the delay" in Harvey's response.

WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson told reporters it is believed Harvey remained at the Bedford home for several days following the deaths, before making his way to a regional police station on Sunday morning.

Penman said employees of the company were in 'complete shock' over the murders, which has Harvey, a franchisee with an exceptional customer rating and good workplace relationships, at the forefront.

"It's so unexpected, it's so surprising," Penman said.

"Anthony's a great guy that's the thing we can't cope with. He's a great guy, he's given great customer service, he's polite, he's well-liked, he's responsible."

In a statement posted to Facebook on Tuesday, Penman said the only suggestion of trouble was a "failure on several occasions to respond to phone calls."

Otherwise, the company was in regular contact with Harvey and under no impression there may be issues at home.

The tragedy has prompted Penman to begin the process of establishing a counselling clinic at Jim's Mowing Mooroolbark headquarters, offering employees the opportunity to speak with qualified psychologists at no cost.
