Coles Stores Shut Due To Technical Issues
Aldi and Woolworths were the only winners with bigger-than-usual Sunday morning queues.
Coles stores across the country were closed on Sunday morning, believed to be due to technical issues affecting their cash registers.
The affected supermarkets posted apology notices to customers at their front of stores.
However there were no alerts on any of the company's social media platforms.
The closure follows issues with Coles Online this week, which saw the site shut down for several hours.
"We apologise," the notice outside stores read.
"Our store is currently closed due to circumstances beyond our control. We are working to resolve the issue and will re-open as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
While not all stores were affected by the disruption, reports from frustrated shoppers came from a range of stores in Sydney, Victoria and Queensland.
