US delegation travels to North Korea to renew talks between President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un. The move comes after President Trump pulled out citing hostility and concern. But North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has since reconfirmed his “commitment” to the meeting, in a surprise exchange with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

The coalition has lost ground to Labor with a two-party preferred vote of 52 - 48 in the latest news poll. Opposition leader Bill Shorten dropped two points as the country's preferred Prime Minister now sitting on 30 percent, with Malcolm Turnbull on 47 percent.

Russian Ambassador to Australia Grigory Logvinov has blasted the investigation into flight MH17 that crashed in Ukraine in 2014.  He has accused Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop of speaking in "a prosecutorial manner" while relying on a report preordained to blame Russia and was based on "fakes, forgeries, and primitive fabrications".

Australia's consumer watchdog says more cars fitted with defective and potentially deadly airbags are set to be recalled. The ACCC has added the Audi A5, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Koda Octavia, Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Golf, Holden Cruze and Toyota Yaris, among other models, to a new "future recall" list, bringing the total number of cars recalled nationally to four million.

A man has been shot dead after a confrontation with police in Western Australia . A single shot was fired after the man allegedly approached authorities and refused to put down his weapon, with tasers proving to be ineffective. He was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries.

American singer Mariah Carey has sold her 35-carat diamond engagement ring James Packer gave her two years ago. The huge sparkler, widely reported to be worth $10 million, was part of the financial settlement the diva made in 2017 after her split from the Australian media baron.

Former NASA astronaut Alan Bean has died at the age of 86, after falling ill during a trip.  He was the fourth person to walk on the Moon, flying aboard Apollo 12, and proved crucial to humanity's understanding of its closest celestial neighbor.'

Australian Daniel Ricciardo wins Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco. The Aussie overcame enormous challenges, beating out Lewis Hamilton and  Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel while driving nearly two-thirds of the race hobbled with a significant horsepower deficit due to a mechanical problem.
