The World Is Mourning Roger The Ripped Kangaroo

Thousands are paying tribute to the Aussie icon that was Roger the ripped roo.

The ridiculously jacked Kangaroo made headlines in 2015 when he crushed a metal bucket between his paws.

Since then, the two-metre tall, muscly marsupial has captured millions of hearts around the world.

But sadly, on Saturday, the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs, where he lived for a decade, announced that the 12-year-old had passed away of old age.

"He lived a lovely long life and was loved by millions around the world" the sanctuary posted on Facebook. "We will always love you and miss you Roger".

Devastated fans have since taken to social media to farewell the "Schwarzenegger of roos".

The Sanctuary's manager Chris 'Brolga' Barnes, rescued Roger in 2006 from his dead mother's pouch and reared him by hand. In an emotional tribute, he described the famous kangaroo as his 'best mate' and 'son'.

The post amassed more than 10 thousand likes and 2200 comments.

"Many tears will be shed in Australia tonight and indeed around the world as the news gets passed around. Roger was a beautiful boy. He had a great life and was much loved by all. My thoughts are with you, Brolga, on the passing of your Red Kangaroo son. Sleep peacefully big boy," one person wrote under the video.

"From an orphaned joey to the world's most famous kangaroo, it's amazing what love can do," said another.

"Roger was so lucky to have found you and you him. He will always be magnificent".

Roger has been buried at the sanctuary, so "he will always be here," Mr Barns said.

RIP big guy.
