Man Arrested Over Sexual Assault Of Seven-Year-Old Girl And Related Stabbing

Man has been arrested after the sexual assault of a seven-year-old in Sydney's south.

The man allegedly followed the girl into a toilet on Railway Parade where he assaulted and sexually assaulted her.

A 46-year-old man then came to the girl's aid, where a fight broke out between the two men. During this time the 46-year-old man was stabbed in the neck and the abdomen.

Witnesses rushed to assist the injured man and the seven-year-old girl. They managed to detain the offender until Police arrived on the scene at around 7.55 pm on Thursday evening.

The three people involved were taken to hospital.

The young girl was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital for observation and the 46-year-old man was transported to St George Hospital to be treated for stab wounds.

The offender was arrested and taken to St George Hospital with facial swelling and bruising and he remains under police guard.

He is expected to be released from hospital on Friday morning, where he will be taken to Kogarah Police Station for questioning.

No charges have been laid.
