Man Left Fighting For Life After Dating App Meet-Up

Police have released vision of a man they want to speak to after his date was badly injured in a balcony fall.

Do you know the man in this video?

Police released this vision in the hope someone does -- they want to speak with him after his dated ended up in hospital fighting for life.

A 37 year-old Swedish-American tourist is in a critical condition at Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital after he fell from a balcony in late October.

He fell from a third floor apartment in Surry Hills, onto a ground floor patio setting and was impaled on a table leg.

Detectives believe there's a potential witness -- the man he met on dating app Grindr that same day -- Sunday, November 4.

They are appealing for that man to contact police as they believe he may have  crucial information.

He is described as Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance with a slim build, dark hair, and at the time was wearing a dark t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are also reminding the public to show caution when using dating apps.

“Know who you are meeting, where you’re meeting them, what their intentions are and perhaps establish some safeguards beforehand such as providing close friends with those details,” Detective Superintendent Gavin Wood said.

Anyone who may know this man, or has information about the incident, is urged to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
