Two Injured After McDonalds Shooting

Police are hunting for a gunman on the run after a midnight Maccas run turned horribly wrong.

A manhunt is underway after two men were shot and wounded during a  midnight McDonald's run.

The two men -- aged 30 and 33 -- were sitting in their ute in the car park of the Merrylands McDonalds just after midnight, when an unknown man shot them through their car window.

Trapped inside their utility like sitting ducks, neither could avoid the gunshots -- the older of the two was hit twice.

It all unfolded across the road from Mohammad Hussain’s home, who’s now scared he could be the next victim.

The victim being rolled into an ambulance after the shooting.

“It’s really scary, it can (sic) be me maybe,” he said.

“This happened many times around this area… Merrylands, Parramatta, Auburn.

“It’s happened so many times, it’s scary because it’s not safe.”

The wounded pair drove to a nearby Star Mart Service Station -- less than a kilometre away -- to call for help much to the dismay of the paramedics.

“Our advice is always to call triple-zero and just to remain where you are,” Inspector Jennine Kiely said.

“We assessed two males, the first was a 33 year-old male who sustained gunshot wounds to his leg and arm… he was transported in a serious but stable condition to Westmead Hospital.

“The second patient sustained a gunshot wound to his knee.”

The scene of the shooting.

The 33-year-old was discharged from hospital on Wednesday morning, while the younger man underwent surgery.

He was still in hospital in a stable condition this afternoon.

Police say the attack was targeted but are unclear of a motive.

The shooter was last seen fleeing on foot through Grandville Park, wearing a black hoodie.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact police.
