Man Charged With Murder After Woman’s Body Found At Melbourne Fire
Fire ripped through the home on Saturday morning.
A 38-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was discovered in Melbourne's south east on Saturday, following a house fire.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at the home in Maria Court, Cranbourne North, just after 10.30am. They found the body of a 36-year-old woman.
Homicide Squad detectives arrested the man shortly before 4pm Saturday at a home in Berwick, one suburb away from the fire.
Police confirmed other occupants who lived at the address had been found safe and well.
All parties who were involved in the incident are believed to be known to each other, police said.
Neighbours told Fairfax Media that a woman, a man and three children reside at the property.
“They’re lovely kids,” the neighbour said.
Police are waiting on post mortem results to identify an exact cause of death.
The man will appear in court at a later date.
