Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will reportedly visit the Northern Territory, after being accused of “not caring” about the child protection crisis.  It follows the sexual abuse of a toddler who was raped in Tennant Creek by an aboriginal man four months ago. With Turnbull expected to visit the Territory in early August.

Energy giant AGL has hit struggling Sydney families with higher gas prices, while Queenslanders will be offered greater relief. The AGL boss Andy Vesey also revealed he will move ahead with plans to import gas to Australia. With Liberal Member for Hughes Craig Kelly demanding answers over why AGL is “profiting enormously from the increase in the wholesale price of electricity”.

US president Donald Trump continues to make headlines, but this time it’s for illegal misconduct. New York's Attorney-General is seeking to shut down Trump's charitable foundation, accusing the president and his three children of using it to advance his self-interests and boost his 2016 presidential campaign.

Trump wasted little time responding, taking to Twitter to say

The girlfriend of a man who died in a fatal house fire in Sydney last year has been charged with murder. In October emergency services responded to a blaze that broke out in a granny flat in Gymea where a 39-year-old man was rescued. He suffered severe burns and died in hospital a few days later. The 46-year-old women has been refused bail and will appear in court in August.

Wild weather has hit South Australia, causing severe storms that have shattered windows, downed trees and caused flash flooding across the state. Rough seas forced the closure of jetties with wind gusts of up to 80km/h buffetting Adelaide, as gusts of 74km/h were recorded at Adelaide Airport.
