The highly-anticipated first interview with former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and his new partner has aired, with Vikki Campion telling Channel Seven's Sunday Night she was pressured to terminate the couple's baby by people within Parliament. The former Nationals leader also hit out at Malcolm Turnbull over the public comments he made over the affair, saying it was "wrong" for the PM to "do a doorstop on it."  The controversial interview sparked a social media firestorm, with some suggesting the tell-all left many questions unanswered.

A 20-year-old man accused of killing his grandmother and wounding his grandfather in a stabbing attack in Bega over the weekend is likely to have his charges upgraded, after a 54-year-old man -- who was allegedly struck by the accused with a hammer in a carjacking related to the incident -- died in hospital overnight.

Pope Francis has named Bishop Gregory O'Kelly as the administrator of the Adelaide Archdiocese following the conviction of Archbishop Philip Wilson for covering up child sex crimes in the 1970s. O'Kelly will remain in his current role as Bishop of Port Pirie as well as assume administrative and executive authority in the Archdiocese.

A 42-year-old man has suffered serious burns following a suspicious fire at a motel in a Townsville suburb overnight. The man is being flown to Brisbane for specialist treatment as police launch investigations. The fire also caused extensive damage to the room before guests were able to extinguish the flames.

At least 46 migrants have died after their boat sank off the Tunisian Coast. Tunisia's defense ministry says the rescue operation is still ongoing, with 67 people rescued so far and being transported to a local hospital. Authorities believe 180 migrants were crammed onboard the vessel before it sunk.

German police have shot and injured a man who allegedly went on a knife rampage through the Berlin Cathedral on Sunday.  One police officer was also injured in the incident, and both the suspect and the officer have been taken to hospital. Authorities say they have ruled out terrorism as a motive.
