We Found Six Of The Best Doughnuts Spots In The (Hole) Country

Let's be honest. One shouldn't require a reason to indulge one's sweet tooth -- we at ten daily certainly do not. But if you need a gentle nudge then today's the day: June 1 is National Doughnut Day -- let this be your free pass to yum town.

Here we've scrolled (and rolled) our way around the country to source the best doughnut purveyors on offer. Some are even offering special treats to celebrate National Doughnut Day. So read on and prepare to get really, really hungry.

Donut Boyz, QLD

This self-described 'bangin' doughnut joint' is famous for its Golden Gaytime Cronut, Chocolate Ganache Toasted Marshmallow doughnut-- it's basically an overgrown s'more -- and the Cheese Burger doughnut which has to be seen to be believed. Snag yourself one -- or five -- at various locations throughout Brisbane and surrounds.

Special mention goes to fellow Brisbane outfit Brewbakers for their scrummy sourdough doughnuts.

Shortstop Coffee & Donuts, NSW

This Barangaroo-based delight opened just over two years ago and has already become a Sydney institution. They sold out on last year's National Doughnut Day so this time they're stocking 3,000 doughnuts. Plus you can snag a free Classic Cinnamon Cake doughnut with every purchase. Make sure you don't miss out -- and skip the queues -- by ordering your faves online. In Melbourne? They have a sister store there too.

Outside of Sydney the Berry Donut Van is a must visit while Doughheads in Newcastle are slinging free mini doughnut on National Doughnut Day.

Bombolini Doughnuts, ACT

Doughnut fiends in our nation's capital rejoice. Bombolini Doughnuts -- once sold exclusively in local farmers markets -- set up shop at Kynefin in Hall in April 2018. If flavours like peanut butter caramel, passionfruit or strawberry jam are your er ... jam then be sure to stop by and celebrate on June 1 for National Doughnut Day -- or any day for that matter.

Doughboys Doughnuts, VIC

Bourke Street favourite Doughboys are all about 'hand forged' doughnuts and while we're not exactly sure what that means we're totally down for their mouthwatering fare. And just in time for National 'Doughie' Day on June 1 the team are rolling out their new Lamington special -- think dark chocolate, coconut meringue and cream -- with proceeds going to the Koala Kids Foundation. Nice.

Shout-out to All Day Donuts -- their banoffee number is calling our name -- and Nectar & Stone for their almost-too-pretty-to-eat creations.

Cakeboy Donuts, SA

You don't often hear the words 'organic,' 'vegan' and 'doughnuts' all in the same sentence but at Cakeboy Donuts it's their bread and butter. Quite literally. So everyone can have their cake -- or in this case doughnut -- and eat it too.

Visit Four Winds Chocolate in Willunga for lamington, caramel chocolate and tiramisu delights but be warned -- they're only open on Saturdays and their scrummy doughnuts are made in small batches so it's first-come first-served.

Mary Street Bakery, WA

Despite the location-specific name you can hit up Mary Street Bakery in four spots in Perth. On National Doughnut Day they're passing on $1 from every special doughnut sold to the The Wheels for Hope Foundation, so we'll take two of everything thanks.

Top Dup Donuts in Willagee are launching a very epic-sounding Raspberry Birthday Cake AND throwing a block party to celebrate the big day on June 1.
