Ever Wondered How Other People Practice Self-Care... And What It Actually Is?

Take some time out for you -- because you're worth it.

A lot has been said about the practice of self care recently (and according to the Twitterverse, there's a lot to be said for practicing it) but just excuse us for one minute as we try and get to the bottom of something.

ER, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

For those of us who are confused by the term, here's the thing -- self care is whatever you want to do that makes you feel good.

No, really.  Self care is all about, well, yourself (hey, it's in the name, folks!).  So you do you.

You see, according to psychologists at website Psych-central, self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Although it’s a simple concept in theory, it’s something we very often overlook, right? But good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety as well as a better understanding of how you function.  It’s also key to a good relationships with others.

Who knew?!

So because the Twitterverse is all over it, with hundreds of users offering up their serious -- and not so serious -- tips for good self care, why not take these examples as ideas to help you decompress and take the me-time you deserve...

Of course, self care doesn't have to be a serious affair -- if what you want to do is sit in your PJs and watch reruns of Friends, you go for it, sista.  Just like these fine Twitter users...

And finally, if you were under any illusion that there were rules when it comes to what self care is, take a leaf out of this Twitter user's book and, well, just get yourself a pupper, stat...

Not waffles, but good enough.
