George Clooney Is The Feminist We All Need Right Now

The star introduces himself in a speech as Amal Clooney's husband. Crowd goes wild.

Oh George Clooney, you can do no wrong, you really can't.

And marrying Amal Clooney was certainly one of your finer moments. That woman is ah-mazing. She's the kind of hero we all need. Even you. And you're pretty great. Have we mentioned that?

Human rights lawyer Amal  -- a woman with an Oxford degree, a record of fighting for recognition of the Armenian Genocide and a fighter for the rights of Yazidi women abused under ISIS -- couldn't be with her actor hubby this weekend as he presented at the Variety Power Of Women lunch in Beverly Hills.  Mrs Clooney was busy presenting at the 2018 Pennsylvania Conference for Women,  you see. But George, who was invited to speak, certainly made it clear who he believed was the more important of the two.

The crowd broke into applause and laughter when he spoke, to which he responded:  “Oh I know, I know. I can read this room.”

Bless him.

George attended the event in order to present an award to Emma Gonzalez, a student survivor of a mass shooting in Florida who staged a silent protest in front of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. He made a very emotional speech which  the audience -- including Natalie Portman and  Thandie Newton -- loved.

During his speech, Clooney also spoke out against Donald Trump for mocking Doctor Christine Blasey Ford, after she testified that she was sexually assaulted by US Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh.

Referring to the upcoming US elections, Clooney said: “When you tell women that coming forward to testify about their abuse is a joke, don’t be shocked when they’re standing on your lawn, laughing on Nov. 7.”

People were quick to praise George for what he said, Twitter exploding with comments from fans.

Mr Clooney, Mrs Clooney -- you're both pretty special. Don't go changin'.
